Senses rotation, acceleration and magnetic fields. Use it to measure and understand advanced physics concepts or just to control other devices using gestures.
IMU (Inertial measurement unit) are nowadays ubiquitous devices that are used in a variety of applications ranging from motion tracking and game controllers to drones, self-balancing robots, and even your phone.
What’s in the box:
* IMU Block
Electrical Characteristics:
Operating voltages: 3.3 to 18V *
* Keep in mind that not all blocks support this max voltage, always use a Power Station block to regulate your input voltage down to the recommended 5V.
Magnetometer:
- Detects magnetic fields in 3 axes
- ±50 gauss magnetic dynamic range
- 16 bit data output resolution
- Sampling rate: 1Hz to 200Hz
NOTE: The local magnetic fields such was the one produced by the magnets inside the block create distortion and affect the readings of the device; you may need to apply soft and hard iron compensation to obtain accurate data.
Accelerometer:
- Sensitivity (G): ±2g, ±4g, ±8g
- 16 bit data output resolution
- Sampling rate: 1Hz to 200Hz *
NOTE: Sampling rages above 25Hz are averaged and transmitted at a 25Hz rate.
